One of the things I hear most often from people working in the creative industries is some version of: “I know I need to get better at this, but I just don’t have six months to spare.” And honestly? I get it. A full Skills Bootcamp or longer course is a brilliant investment, but it’s not always the right tool for the job. Sometimes you just need a focused, practical day that moves the needle on something specific. That’s exactly why we’ve launched our new programme of short courses.
We’ve put together four one-day sessions, each one built around a real gap we see in the creative sector. There’s Fundraising Essentials for anyone trying to get a new project off the ground or put their organisation on steadier financial footing, because understanding where money comes from is fundamental, whether you’re a solo artist or a growing company. Alongside that, Finance Essentials for Creatives tackles the stuff a lot of us got into this industry specifically to avoid: cashflow, invoicing, financial planning. Then there’s Events Tech for non-Techies, which is for everyone who has ever stood at the back of a venue watching something malfunction and felt completely powerless. We’ll change that.
And then there’s the fourth one: Sustainable Social Media Marketing, taught by me.
I’ll be honest — there’s something slightly surreal about being on the other side of this. I worked as a freelancer for about a decade before working here, and for a long time I felt like I was building the plane while I was flying it (and while I was emailing someone with schematics for the runway at the other end). My success came from a lot of trial and error, and by making social marketing part of my creative practice rather than a diversion away from it.
That’s actually why I wanted to teach this course. I’m not coming at it as a theorist. I’m coming at it as someone who has been doing this work for years, and is doing it right now, in the creative sector, for a small and scrappy organisation that genuinely cares about showing up in the right way. The course is designed to help you build an approach to social media that is realistic, intentional, and, crucially, sustainable. Because a strategy you can actually stick to will always outperform a perfect strategy that overwhelms you.
All four courses are open for applications now, and they’re available for both individuals and teams. Whether you come on your own or bring your whole crew, you’ll leave with tools you can use straight away — no jargon, no fluff, just the good stuff.
Come and learn with us. Maybe I’ll see you in the room!
