Kate’s career has always been about making things happen. Before co-directing MUTI Live, she co-founded a circus festival and spent two decades as a creative producer in outdoor arts, fundraising, commissioning and producing. Now she’s juggling everything from building partnerships with employers and funders, to finance, compliance and safeguarding. Everything that helps MUTI Live and its people grow.

“Learning should be a constant in life. It opens your eyes to new things and connects you with people who change how you see the world.”

“I see a bit of myself in many of our MUTI Live learners. I studied Anthropology at university, which although fascinating, was never going to lead straight into a job. So I did an arts management course and found my way into work through that. I worked freelance for years, mostly in circus and outdoor arts – and that was a fantastic training ground. A world full of creative, determined people full of
passion for what they do.

I’m a no-regrets kind of person. But I do wish I’d sought out more training and mentoring opportunities over the years. Because it’s never just about the skills you gain – it’s about the culture you immerse yourself in and the people you meet along the way. That’s often where the real learning happens and where the big breaks come. That’s what I love about MUTI Live too. It’s rooted in real experience, with tutors who know the industry inside out. Who still work in it.

We’re helping people find sustainable careers in the creative industries. So not just teaching skills, but showing people how to flex them for different sectors so they can build a life around them. It’s incredible being right here, right now and seeing it all grow – the company and the people. And you know what? Every day really is a school day!”
